I felt that the reading for the introduction of identity, dude looks like a lady, and the he hormone, all had some type of connection to what people views identify as. I the Intro to identity it gave a good example of identity when the guy lost his wallet and it was returned 46 years later. They explained how the things that you carry around in your wallet is a metaphor to your identity. It basically said that if you lose your wallet you are unable to function just as if you where not to know who you were. Your wallet reveals a portion of your personal identity.
I also thought that it was creative how there is no definition for identity, instead assumption of identity are used and those assumptions are those that many people can identify with as far as them making the same assumptions.
In the Dude looks like a lady portion, the ignorance of people and the way they half analyze features to come up with what is normally labeled as male or female is shown through a woman's short story. And i noticed that even though she was a victim of mis-identification, she had her own ways of pining those assumption of identity on other people.
Lastly there is the He hormone section, i couldn't really get a cleat understanding of what was being said in this chapter but maybe after going over it with other, rereading it, or reading the response of other i can gain a better understanding.

Cultural Practices (media)
In our society the media plays a large role when it comes to body image. The differences between male and female body image it's quit what people would think. Most people would say that only women are targeted by the media to be skinny, but that is totally wrong. Just as women are influenced and told to be skinny, men are being told that they need to be in crazy shape. Slim body's and big muscles have been standard of what the media calls "sexy" since before anybody can remember. It is the standard that then men are suppose to be strong and muscular and the woman is suppose to be slim and petite. It's ok to have a healthy looking body but you shouldn't have to kill yourself with weight loss and muscle building supplements to get there.
Formal Bio (magazine)
My name is Ashley R. and I am an 18 year old freshman attending Hamline University. My plans are to major in management and economics in hopes of one day becoming a marketing and advertising manager at a sports apparel company such as NIKE.I am also involved in the basketball program at Hamline University as a point-guard and shooting guard. I have been playing basketball since I was about 7 and it had always been my dream to play in college. It gets hard but i know I have to press on.
In my spare time I enjoy having fun with my friends, going to the movies, and listening to music. I also sing and rap, if you ask me that is a pretty nice spin on what you would expect from me, but i like it i think it makes me unique.

Working Definition of "identity"
"Identity isn't just about what is physical, it is a combination of both physical and mental. In my opinion identity is offten mistaken by what people see, such as the way someone dresses, the color of their skin and the way they act in public. But there is much more to then what meets the eye. ones identity is represented by other things such as personal choices, their religious background, where they come from, and their over all outlook on life. Identity isn't a label that society has made up it is a mixture of different components to shape who an individual is.
